While the motor symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease dominate as a neurodegenerative disability, the systemic and psychiatric aspects need to be addressed by the clinician and are now considered as part of the overall syndrome. Special areas of sleep disturbance, dysphagia, dysautonomia, orthostasis and cognitive impairment can affect quality of life and may affect as many as 80% of patients. The above areas must be considered in any treatment regimen and can add to its complexities.
